Anyhow, the way things are, an atom seems like a lot of empty space. Perhaps it is the electron charge field. Or the proton/electron connection. In a certain way, it even feels like bounded form of pure-play energy. To get a sense of empty space, analogies drawn are football stadium and a marble, as to the size of atom and its nucleus. And the really interesting thing is, the mass of that football stadium is pretty much held by that little marble. Electrons just buzz by, weightless of sorts.
At sub-atomic level, that is quantum level, things go beyond comprehension. Everything is a wave or vibration of sorts, just a direction. Quarks. Perhaps the bounded energy thing seems more relevant here. Some force/field/something beyond our comprehensible perceptual means, or imaginary means holds energy bound in these direction vibrations of quarks.
That is pretty much everything we know, see, perceive, observe or call material reality is made up of. Waves, vibrations. (No wonder the transient nature leads us mystically to the illusory, grasp-less nature of reality).
At atomic level, arrangement is the order. Different arrangements of these protons, electrons around the core nucleus determines the kind of element we have. And elements which look very much alike at structural level have very different physical manifestation. They are like letters arranged as words (as a crude analogy. Universe's language is far more elegant. A lot with very very little). For example, sliver is very different from silver. Although a sliver in lining could be a silver lining. But you get the idea.
So in black holes. Something different from the rest of the visible universe happens. Gravity is very very very strong. It collapses the fields, vibrations to null. As if power is switched off, and whatever was holding the empty space around the nucleus buzzing collapses to null, and things get crushed together except that, really there are no things, remember illusions, and just the wave and vibration nature of reality.
Well, this is my understanding. As of now. Will keep reading on these things, and improve my understanding further in simpler words.
