Evolution of Life

Inspired from an infographic in Brian Cox & Andrew Cohen's Wonders of Life

What stands out for me apart from the eons and the timeframe is the periodic extinction. The changing shape of earth, the biosphere forming the earth and being formed by it. But mostly, these periodic mass extinction which can be looked at in two ways - a) earth experiments, makes new things and throws most of them away keeping only the necessary code and genes. As if the canvas of the world were a workbench, and there's periodic cleaning around life, the code and cell being generally universal, with variations and adaptations as species evolve. b) Each era prepared the earth in certain ways, and then they made their exit. And now on the stage in the spotlight seems to be the human being.
